Toxicology

  • Acute Toxicity: Moderately toxic (EPA Category III). Oral LD₅₀ (rat): ~4,000 mg/kg; Dermal LD₅₀ (rabbit): >2,000 mg/kg.

  • Irritation: Mild eye irritant; non-irritating to skin (OECD 404/405).

  • Ecotoxicity: Toxic to aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna EC₅₀: 3.2 mg/L).

  • Metabolism: Rapidly metabolized in mammals (excreted via urine).

Applications

  • Primary Use: Selective herbicide for sugar beet and spinach crops.

  • Mode of Action: Photosystem II (PSII) inhibitor, disrupting electron transport in weeds.
