Active ingredient	Profenofos
Classification	Insecticide / Acaricide
Properties	Pale yellow liquid, with a garlic-like odour. B.p. 100C/1.80Pa. V.p. 1.24x10'mPa (25*C). S.g./density 1.455 (20C).in water 28 mg/L (25°C). Readily miscible with most organic solvents
Mode of action	Non-systemic insecticide and acaricide with contact andstomach action. Exhibits a translaminar effect.Hasovicidal properties.
Usage	Control of insects (particularly Lepidoptera) and mites oncotton, maize, sugar beet, soya beans, potatoesvegetables, tobacco, and other crops, at 250-1000 g/ha.
Mammalian toxicology	Propion is a moderately toxic insecticide. No chronic toxicity, no carcinogenic, teratogenic, mutagenic effect, no irritating effect on the skin, toxic to fish, birds, bees. Acute transoral LD50358mg/kg in rats and acute percutaneous LD50 about 3300mg/kg in rats; LC50(96h, mg/L) Rainbow trout 0.08, cross carp 0.09, blue gill sunfish 0.3; LC50(8d, mg/L) North American quail 70-200, Japanese quail >1000, wild duck 150-162.
