Activates insect ryanodine receptors, leading to unregulated loss of internal calcium stores. Binding site is distinct from that for ryanodine.

Mode of action

Uptake is primarily through ingestion, and secondarily by contact, with exposed insects exhibiting general lethargy and muscle paralysis. The insects rapidly stop feeding, and ultimately die.

Uses

Controls a wide range of chewing pests (primarily Lepidoptera, but also some Coleoptera, Diptera and Isoptera species) in a broad range of crops, including fruit, vegetables, vines, cotton, sugar cane, rice and grass, at 10-100 g/ha.
